Peter Molyneux of Fable & Black & White fame is just one of those game designers that everyone knows, a kind of Kojima or Miyamoto for Western gamers. Sure, the guy commands an audience when he has somthing to say, but he also promises a lot, and has many ambitions for his games… although doesn’t always deliver on them (ahem, Fable?). But if anyone knows whats going on in the industry, it’s him.

Molyneux is troubled, you see, that the industry is struggling to find anything new and exciting for its future games:

"…. you start thinking, "Wait a second — where has all that inventiveness gone? When they first launched, it was all there." So there’s a whole microcosm of what is happening in our bigger industry — where we struggle to actually find the new stuff to actually get excited about."
