While the rumor has been flying around for months, game company Interplay, upon finalizing the sale of Fallout to Bethesda, is apparently making a formal return to game development. The sale of the Fallout franchise did generate some cash, but working out further streams of revenue has clearly presented a glaring problem for the firm.

Nevertheless, it looks as though Descent and Earthworm Jim will finally reappear on the scene. Bringing even sweeter music to our ears is their stated intention to developer Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance III. We had brought our prior knowledge on the subject to fans of the series months ago, stating in late summer that we had heard whispers of a sequel being in the works. As it turns out, our inside man was right.

That should clear up our reputation, somewhat, for being reputable grinders of the rumor mill.
