Over the last couple of Grand Theft Auto games, Australia and Rockstar haven’t exactly gotten along. Who could forget Australia’s positive response to San Andreas? 

 The Sydney Morning Herald’s Screenplay blog fills us in on the latest news for the upcoming controversial title…

"The game has been rated R18+ by the British Board of Film Classification, New Zealand’s OFLC and the German Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle. It has been rated M17+ by the Entertainment Software Rating board in North America."

With the pending release of GTA IV, on April 29th, Rockstar has confirmed an editied edition for Australia - meeting their MA15+ rating.

Although as if these ratings GTA IV received elsewhere were a surprise to anyone, that remains to be seen. This isn’t the first time a Grand Theft Auto game has been edited for Australian audiences, and probably won’t be the last. As for what exactly was edited for Australia, we’ll just have to find out on April 29.
