Games cost a fortune to make these days. Most developers will jump through a hoop of fire because of their publisher. Games cost tens of millions to make, but we gamers still complain from time to time about the $60 price tag. We’re considerate like that, huh?

Who would have thought that the most expensive game to ever have been made was released two console generations ago, the Sega Dreamcast’s Shenmue? It topped around $70 million overall in the making.

GTA IV is guaranteed to break records, but Rockstar have really done it this time. Having had over a thousand people work on the game, Rockstar’s Leslie Benzies, producer of GTA IV, estimates the budget at around $100 million.
