In case you hadn’t caught on yet or are new to the GamePartisan party scene, game name recognition means very little to us: a good game is a good game, an average game is an average game, a bad game is a bad game. Period.

Microsoft, the leader in the European home console race, confirms price cuts for its Xbox 360 console on the continent. Sony expected to feel pressure to follow suit.
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - German video gamers, long wedded to their personal computers, are switching to games consoles and mobile devices, pushing German games software sales up 21 percent to 1.36 billion euros ($2.1 billion) last year.
The German games software association (BIU) said on Friday sales of games for consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation or Microsoft Xbox rose 38 percent to 904 million euros in 2007.
By contrast, sales of PC games slipped 3 percent to 458 million euros.
Games for mobile devices were the fastest-growing segment of the market, with sales rising 65 percent to 360 million euros as more casual gamers entered the market, the BIU said.
As Toshiba’s HD DVD format all but listens to its own swan song, Microsoft appears to be taking swift steps to cash in on the Blu Ray bandwagon. Microsoft chief executive officer Steve Ballmer remarked that Microsoft Corporation intends to utilize Sony’s Blu Ray format "in ways that make sense".
To date, Microsoft has failed to confirm the rumored Blu Ray add on for its Xbox 360 home gaming console to replace its former HD DVD add on for the system. Ballmer merely commented as follows: "Toshiba has moved on. We’ve moved on, and we’ll support Blu-Ray in ways that make sense."
Here’s to hoping that making "sense" includes intending to make business sense. How ’bout it, Steve?
Just in time for Ace Combat 6 to help lend the Xbox 360 credibility and greatly improved sales, bad news started coming out of the woodworks on virtually all fronts for Microsoft’s Xbox division. The continued hardware problems, Xbox Live issues and a sudden fall to third place in sales has got the rumor mill cranking on all cylinders, with all signs pointing to an exit from the hardware market by Microsoft Corporation upon the conclusion of this round of the console wars.
However, Microsoft having put so much into second and third party developers stands as a roadblock to them exiting the market entirely. This point leads us to a prior rumor, of the Sega brand being resurrected and Microsoft putting its support into the company developing and bringing to market a new console, perhaps the long-rumored Sega Phoenix.
Even if all of the aforementioned rumors are simply a load of BS, the fact remains that unless the Epic acquisition pulls through as rumored this summer and Gears of War 2 gives the 360 a much-needed boost, the situation is definitely looking bleak for Microsoft in the console business. After having so much momentum and the best online gaming network, their best appears to simply not be cutting the mustard.
Our contacts at Microsoft Corporation were all either unvailable for comment or simply declined to speak on the aforementioned topics.
